The hallmark of the Newfoundland breed is their loving, devoted personality, however they are NOT a breed for everybody. Newfoundland dogs DO drool, they DO shed and require a lot of daily maintenance and training. With a lot of time and training, they will make a wonderful family companion.

 Heart, hip and elbow problems are a huge problem in the breed. Make sure you double check every breeder's claim of "Clear Heart, Hips and Elbows" by checking the OFA database.
